Louise holds PhDs in cardiothoracic surgery (University of Cape Town, RSA) and sociology (University of Exeter, UK). She has had postdoctoral research posts at the Universities of Edinburgh (UK), Exeter (UK), Notre Dame (USA), Oxford (UK) and Cape Town (RSA).
