A Research Fellow on the SOCIAM Research project. SOCIAM is concerned with studying 'The Theory and Practice of Social Machines', and is a 5 year project exploring methods and techniques for supporting purposeful human interaction on the Web. My responsibilities as a SOCIAM research fellow include developing a suitable platform to support real-time and historic analysis of Web systems. I am responsible for investigating current big data and stream processing techniques, as well as appropriate solutions for distributed storage and analysis. I am also researching novel methods for analysing social networking platforms and online communities, drawing upon my PhD research which include combining quantitative and qualitative methods to observe activity at the micro and macro level.
