As the DONA Foundation Executive Director, I am in a unique position to be able to leverage my computer research scientist background and my many years of research and development of the Digital Object Architecture at CNRI to now focus on developing, evolving, and facilitating the adoption of the Digital Object Architecture technologies such as the Handle and DOIP protocols, and related technologies and standards such as X.1255 across many fields of endeavor, industries, and countries around the world. I am also responsible for overseeing the operations and management of the Global Handle Registry®, a critical component of the Digital Object Architecture that provides every Internet user anywhere in the world with an intellectual property free, open source, multi-stake holder, distributed, secure, scalable, and extensible identifier resolution and administration system. This system, called the Handle System®, provides interoperable and extensible solutions to the problem of secure information access and reuse on a global scale, and across a wide range of applications, industries, and social applications.
