Dr. Daraba holds PhD and MSc degrees from University “Dunarea de Jos” of Galati, Romania. Dr. Daraba has an ample experience in international collaborative work as a former Research Associate at Iowa State University, USA, Norman Bourlaug/USAID Fellow at University of Kentucky, USA, and postdoctoral fellow of Greek Government. She is an experienced professional with wide understanding of food science, microbiology (microbial population shifting and interactions, during processing or throughout the whole food chain), and regulatory food-related aspects. Dr. Daraba authored and co-authored 8 books and book chapters, 62 scientific articles, 55 scientific communications at national and international professional conferences. She is international reviewer for grant proposals, reviewer for national and international food sciences journals, organizer of food science and food safety related national and international workshops, webinars, and conferences. Research interests: Food safety and quality from Farm-to- Fork, Use of natural antimicrobials for meat, meat products, fruits and vegetables to ensure microbial safety and shelf-life extension, Designing microbiological challenge and shelf-life studies, Implementation of HACCP in food industry and in food service units.
