RDA Selected for SCOSS Funding Cycle

The Research Data Alliance (RDA) is delighted to announce that it has been selected as an open infrastructure to be included in the SCOSS 5th funding cycle.

The Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) is a network of influential organisations committed to helping secure OA and OS infrastructure well into the future. Officially formed in early 2017, SCOSS’s purpose is to provide a new co-ordinated cost-sharing framework that will ultimately enable the broader OA and OS community to support the non-commercial services on which it depends. More details on SCOSS are available on the website.

The overarching goal of the Research Data Alliance SCOSS funding appealto start in 2024, is to enable best practice research data management across the globe and support effective implementation of Open Science practices and principles. SCOSS pledgers can help us do this by supporting the production of standards to enable FAIR research and Open Science as well as supporting capacity building in the Global South.

In concrete terms, helping us to engage with academic communities to raise awareness and use of research data management standards and best practice. Your support would result in standards to enable FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) research outputs and Open Science and increased capacity and capability in the Global South to ensure that science and research is truly seamless and global.

Hilary Hanahoe, Secretary General, Research Data Alliance says:

This is an incredible opportunity for RDA to offer increased impact and support for the global RDA community of over 14,000 data experts from over 151 countries. This international network of passionate, committed and volunteer individuals are building the social and technical bridges to share and reuse research data and RDA wants to support their results and outputs to become much needed global data standards in support of Open Science. At the same time, we want to make sure that all data experts are aware of and involved in RDA, So part of our appeal is to seek support to build community and capacity in the Global South.
