Alex has a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an MSc in Developmental Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh. She worked as a Teacher of English as a Second Language in Thessaloniki, Greece for three years. She then moved on to Edinburgh for her master's degree. She worked as a Research Assistant at the Centre for Speech Technology Research (CSTR) in Informatics at the University of Edinburgh for three years before joining the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) in 2016. Over the following six years, Alex held various roles at the DCC: Business Administrator, Research Project Specialist and ultimately Strategy and Operations Specialist. Throughout this time, she contributed to the large array of projects in the DCC's portfolio in terms of strategic, financial and resource management while also coordinating the department's events and conferences and participating in marketing and outreach activities. Through her work at the DCC, Alex was part of the RDA Secretariat from 2018 - 2021, initially as Plenary support and later as Plenary Strategic Manager. In December 2022, Alex joined the Research Data Alliance Association AISBL as the Communications and Engagement Officer. In December 2023 she was appointed Director of Operations.
