ESES-IG session at P19

Somehow the "Space" in the name of the IG has gotten a bit lost. I would
like to put it back in there as there is a lot of activity going on in
that data ecosystem as well. Maybe there can be some more engagement of
the Planetary Data Ecosystem in the IG.

The inclusion of ‘Space’ in the ESES Interest Group name was originally meant to infer Planetary Science and followed the meaning of the term ‘Space’ in both the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and European Geophysical Union (EGU) Earth, Space and Environmental Informatics Sections/Divisions.
Unfortunately, in RDA, the context of ‘Space’ got a bit confused with geospatial data, meaning geography and mapping (i.e., location/place based) and there already was a Geospatial Data Interest Group.
Moving forward, there is no reason why you could not have a deep dive in this session on Planetary Data Systems – do you want to propose it?
Whether or not we change the name to Earth, Planetary and Environmental Science IG would be up to the IG!

The ESES-IG chairs are starting to put together a our session proposal for RDA P19. Session proposals are due on 26 February.
Our last plenary was titled: New Developments in Earth and Environmental Science Data Infrastructures and Repositories (https://www.rd-alliance.org/plenaries/rda-18th-plenary-meeting-virtual/n...).
We had a format of a series of short 5 minute lightning presentations on new developments in Earth and environmental data infrastructures, followed by 2 longer deep dive breakouts.
We think we will use the same formula again, so if any of you would like to present a short lightning presentation or suggest (and maybe lead) one of the deep dives pleae let us know.

Ah, now I see!
From the perspective of geochemistry and samples, Earth and environmental data and samples have very similar structures and provenance metadata as planetary samples and data. As I am diving deeper into astromaterials, the need for closer alignment, coordination, and integration is apparent. But maybe it is more a OneGeochemistry issue?
