Heinz is Adjunct Professor of Software Engineering and a retired full professor at RMIT University, Melbourne. Beside teaching and research at RMIT, he has led the Automation Software Engineering Research Centre, directed eResearch and created the Virtual Experience Lab. He has over 40 years of experience in software architecture and systems quality in research and education with a focus on applications in global parallel, distributed and real-time systems. He has collaborated with numerous industry partners and government organisations. His research focus in software has been on architecture and design, especially verification, testing and more generally quality and performance characteristics. Prior to RMIT, Heinz held positions at Monash University, the CSIRO, the ICSI of UC Berkeley and the German GMD (now part of Fraunhofer). He holds a PhD from Bremen University.
