Cyrille Delpierre

I work as a social epidemiologist at the Laboratory of Epidemiology and Public Health in Toulouse. My research focuses on social inequalities in health, in particular biopsychosocial determinants of health and the analysis of the genesis mechanisms of social inequalities in health (SIH), particularly in the field of chronic diseases and more specifically cancers. More specifically, my research focuses on the mechanisms by which the environment, in the broadest sense, is biologically embedded, how it can affect biological functioning and thus promote the development of diseases in the long term. My goal is to explain SIH not only through physical and chemical exposures and socially distributed health behaviours, but also by showing that social determinants can "directly" modify biological processes and promote the development of pathologies at a distance, thus participating in the genesis of the social gradient in health.
