Born as electronics technician and Graduated in Computer Science at the University of Pisa, Dr. Dalmiani had been working in programming languages teaching since 1989; from 1995 to 2000 he worked in military and defense sector, as analyst and developer of Military Defense Systems. In 1996-2000, during a post-graduate Fellowships with National Research Council (CNR)-Institute of Clinical Physiology (IFC) he worked on research projects for Electronic Medical Record and Decision Support Systems. In 2000 he left military sector to join the Bioengineering and Medical Informatics group of National Research Council, working on clinical information systems in many research projects at regional, national and European level. In that period he become member of ProREC Italy direction board, member of HL7 Italy direction board as General Secretary and Chair of HL7 Italy WG on HL7-V3, Chair of HL7 Italy OID Registry. Due to his experience in design and development of eHealth systems, acquired in CNR-IFC during internal research development projects, he become responsible for the central system of electronic health records of CNR Hospitals and head of EMR software developments. In 2008 he moved to the CNR / Tuscany Region Foundation "Gabriele Monasterio" (FTGM), public health care provider and research hospitals, as head of ICT department, responsible for the management of IT systems and head of ICT research area for translational bioinformatics and clinical informatics, with a growing development activity in software development, system integrations, standards development and IT research. Since 2008 he has been leading 15 research project at regional, national and EU level and participant in many other clinical research protocols. He was member of commission for “Joint Patient Record” of Health Ministry, member of ICT commission of Health Ministry, member of commission for Regional EHR of Tuscany Region, member of ProREC Italy direction board, member of APIHM direction board (Privacy and Information Healthcare Manager Association), Chair of HL7 Italy WG CDA R2 Discharge Summary. He is the teacher in many courses of eHealth standards and system modeling, and author of more than 80 publications in international journals, congress scientific papers, books, journal articles.
