ELIXIR is an intergovernmental organisation of 21 member countries, plus the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). ELIXIR is a virtual and distributed research infrastructure for the life sciences (bioinformatics), serving users globally. Working in its coordinating secretariat, I liaise with ELIXIR members and strategic external partners (e.g. ESFRI, other international research infrastructures, OECD Global Science Forum, Group of Senior Officials). I lead on the development and implementation of organisational strategy (membership & partnerships beyond Europe, long-term sustainability), along with organisational positioning and visibility with funders/policy-makers. I also work with member countries to build their capacity to measure and communicate the scientific and socio-economic impacts of bioinformatics, in the areas of infrastructure, innovation, digital skills, good health, food security, and the environment. Main areas of expertise: policy (research infrastructures, molecular genetic resources, open data), strategy, international relations, impact assessment (monitoring and evaluation, indicators), and biodiversity informatics.
