Dear all,
we are delighted to share with you our fifth annual report at Software
Heritage
,
with a special mention for a high level event on November 30th at UNESCO
headquarters
where
we celebrated the five years since the public unveiling in 2016, renewed
the agreement with UNESCO, and brought together the growing Software
Heritage international community.
Here is a dedicated page with all the recordings and the presentations form
the event .
Software and open science were on the center stage, with a presentation of
the second french National Plan for Open Science
and the UNESCO recommendation on Open Science
,
approved by the member states just a few days before.
On February 4th and 5th will take place the Open Science European Conference
(OSEC 2022), organised in the framework of the
french presidency of the European Union, with the participation of top
level personalities .
Of particular interest for our community, a session on *research evaluation*,
and, for the first time at such a high level event, a session on *software
as a pillar of Open Science*, as well as the announcement of the results of
the first edition of the *french national awards for open source software
in research*: details are in the draft program
.
The event will take place online, with simultaneous translation in english,
french and spanish: please do spread the word in your communities.
Participation is free, but registration is *mandatory*: you can register
here .
I hope you are safe and well, and wish you all the best for this new year.

Dear all,
I'm delighted to share the link to the official results of the first
french national open science awards for free software in research, that
were unveiled this saturday February 4th, during the track dedicated to
software in open science :
- original french version on the website of the ministry of research
- automated english translation
The variety and depth of these contributions (some started as early as
1984!) is an inspiration for us all.
In due time, we will publish more details about the organization of these
awards, which has required a considerable amount of work, and we hope to
see more countries follow the example set by France.
