I developed my career at Politecnico di Milano, where I graduated in Mechanical Engineering and completed my PhD in Bioengineering in 2000. I am currently a Full Professor of Bioengineering at the Dept. of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering “G. Natta”. I teach the course “Technologies for Regenerative Medicine” at the MS program in Biomedical Engineering . I am the founder and head of the Mechanobiology group and I direct two labs. Here, we develop frontier tools for cell modelling, including microengineered stem cell niches, microfluidic bioreactors and miniaturised windows for intravital imaging. In the field of frontier tools for biological research, I am the PI of three projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC) (www.nichoid.polimi.it), I have around 200 publications, I hold 9 patents and I am the founder of MOAB S.r.l, a newborn university spin-off company.
