Dr. Zachary T. Trautt holds the title of Materials Research Engineer in the Materials Measurement Science Division at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Dr. Trautt plays a significant role in the Material Genome Initiative and has particular interest in the findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability of materials data and metadata. Dr. Trautt was a study team member for the NSF-funded report on Building a Materials Data Infrastructure and served a detail assignment on the development team of the U.S. Federal Data Strategy and First Year Action Plan. Prior to joining NIST, Dr. Trautt was a Research Assistant Professor at the School of Physics, Astronomy, and Computational Sciences at George Mason University. He completed his Ph.D. in Engineering Systems with a minor in Material Science at the Colorado School of Mines in 2009. He also completed a B.S. in Engineering Physics at the Colorado School of Mines in 2004.
