Background in physics based multidisciplinary scientific research, metrological and regulatory environments. Experience and skills in research- and infrastructure- project design and leadership; management and development of laboratory services and systems; procurement and corporate governance; instrumentation and method development, publication, review and editing; communication including teaching across disciplines and sectors in English and Portuguese. - Scientific Officer I, Manager Radiometrics and Instrument Calibration. EPA, Dublin. - Auxiliary Researcher in Applied Physics. C2TN, Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon. - Post Doctoral Research Assistant. SUERC, University of Glasgow. - PhD Geography and Earth Sciences. University of Wales, Aberystwyth. - MA Archaeological Sciences. University of Bradford. - BSc (joint) Geophysics and Planetary Physics, and Physics. Newcastle University. Participation in 22 EU and national research projects, led 3. Supervised 2 PhD, 3 MSc, plus Undergraduate and Internship projects. Authored 51 ISI and other journal papers and chapters, plus scientific reports and oral/poster presentations. My research initially focussed on the application of physics to quaternary geology and archaeology. I built on this to develop research projects, service activity, and international collaborative activities across geoscience, radiation dosimetry, and cultural heritage. In public sector management I developed infrastructure projects and a research call to build national capability and research activity on environmental radioactivity. At iCrag I aim to help develop solutions with PhD and post-doctoral researchers for improved data analytics and machine learning across a range of projects, based on my experience analysing and managing data, building and upgrading systems, and modernising workflows.
