With academic and professional backgrounds in engineering materials research and software development respectively, my tasks at the European Commission are focused on data acquisition, transfer, and analysis in the domain of energy research. Specifically in the context of engineering materials data, I am technical lead of a 3-year CEN Workshop on mechanical test data (https://www.cen.eu/work/areas/ict/ebusiness/pages/ws-meteda.aspx) and project lead for the Online Data and Information Network (https://odin.jrc.ec.europa.eu) portal hosted at the European Commission JRC. As well as delivering basic data management services to the European research community, the ODIN portal is enabled for the CEN Workshop technologies for engineering materials data and data citation using DataCite DOIs, thereby allowing for the evaluation of emerging technologies in the domain of engineering materials data and data publishing.
