Simon is Director of the UK National Crystallography Service and has diverse research interests ranging from structural systematics and high resolution crystallography, through crystal growth, x-ray imaging, 3D powder printing and Cheminformatics. He has also developed new information technologies for recording and sharing research data through projects in the areas of Information Management, eResearch and eLearning.
