RDA's Virtual Plenary 18 - Call for Sessions Now Open
As communicated in late May, International Data Week 2021 (IDW), planned to take place this November, was postponed to 20-23 June 2022 due to the continuing global COVID-19 crisis and aftermath. RDA has decided, however, to still hold Plenary 18 (VP18) in a virtual format from 3-18 November 2021.
There will be 24 Breakout Sessions slots available over the course of three weeks. The Breakout Session schedule can be found here. Please only select time slots that suit your group's session. The deadline for session submissions has been extended to Friday, August 06, 2021.
The registration fee for attending Plenary 18 can be found here. We will not be able to offer free speaker admissions or single-session rates. Please bear that in mind when planning your session submission.
Repeat Sessions
If you are willing to host another live session to accommodate a different time zone, select that option on the application form and select which Breakout slots would be suitable for this second live session. Please note: We will do our best to offer a second live session to groups that request it, but may not be able to accommodate all requests.
Links to Session Applications
VP18 will include only breakout sessions and potentially a poster session. For those new to RDA, breakout sessions include the following:
- Working and Interest Group Sessions - Link to Group Session application here.
- Joint Meetings (including multiple working and interest groups) - Link to Joint Meeting Session application here.
- Birds of a Feather Sessions - Link to BoF Session application here.
For Working and Interest Group Sessions and Joint Meetings, the meeting format is typically interactive and informational, giving both group members and new RDA members an opportunity to learn about the groups’ objectives and progress to date and in achieving deliverables, while also collaborating to determine and implement next steps regarding adoption and other related activities.
Please coordinate with your group chair to submit proposals for Working/Interest Group sessions and Joint Meetings, as they can only be accepted from group chairs.
For Joint Meetings, all chairs from each participating group must be notified prior to submission.
Birds of a Feathers sessions provide members an opportunity to consider potential topics that could be recommended for the creation of new working and/or interest groups. Topics should be sufficiently distinct from the work of existing groups or BoFs held at recent plenaries.
The Technical Advisory Board will review all requests to ensure they align with RDA’s mission and principles, and are written to attract both existing group members and individuals new to the RDA community. Submissions should include a component of interactivity with the audience so that the meeting is not solely a slide-based presentation.
Notifications of Session Acceptance will be sent out by Friday, September 10, 2021.
Questions or concerns related to the Call for Sessions can be sent to enquiries{at}rd-alliance.org.
