The Organizing Group* of the Research Data Alliance Colloquium (RDA-C) is planning to appoint the final two members to the Research Data Alliance (RDA) Council in early 2014, and is seeking input from the RDA Community.  Specifically, members of the community are encouraged to submit names for the two remaining open positions no later than February 3, 2014.These final two appointments will meet the original goal of nine members on the initial council set at the time of the RDA launch. CODATA (ICSU's Committee on Data for Science and Technology) and the ICSU World Data System are collaborating to organise a joint conference, SciDataCon 2014 in New Delhi on 2-5 November 2014. Highlighting the theme of 'Data Sharing and Integration for Global Sustainability', this will be a major international conference addressing various issues relating to data and international research.CODATA and WDS invite applications for expert members of the International Scientific Programme Committee. Co-organized by  ERF-AISBL (the Association of European level Research Infrastructures Facilities)  and  Elettra – Sincrotrone Trieste, the Big Data and Open Data Workshop will take place in Bruxelles on May 7th and 8th 2014.The focus of the workshop will be the big data challenge that the Research Infrastructures in all fields of science are facing, and the ways to elaborate solutions. EUDAT is offering free resources and expertise to pilot collaboration projects as part of its Collaborative Data Infrastructure where users, community centres and large data centres collaboratively tackle data challenges. Research communities, research projects and individual researchers are invited to make use of its data services that are available at a European scale.Interested parties are invited to submit their proposals by 26th February 2014.
