Future Directions for RDA -- please review

Future Directions for RDA: A Report from a Workshop Held on March 7th 2015 is now available for review. The report seeks to answer the question: How do we most effectively harness the power of a volunteer organization?

The report was prepared by a consultation team to the RDA Counci. It is the first draft of a document to provide direction for RDA over the next few years and it marks the beginning of a months-long community engagement exercise to develop a more complete plan.

New Groups Available for Public Comment

Hello All -

Just a short reminder to check the RDA home page to see what's new, and provide your comments on proposed groups. There are three available for public comment right now: one on Data Rescue, one on Active Data Management Plans and one on Vocabulary Services.

The comment period for the public is 30 days from the posted date of the text, although comments and participation are always welcome!

First RDA Recommendations open for comments

Dear Friends,

At the last plenary we saw the first results of the RDA activities being presented by some of the initial working groups.

Now two of them have produced recommendations that they would like to see ratified by the community (the others will come along shortly). These are:

REMINDER TO REGISTER by midnight (PST) on January 26 to take advantage of the the Early Bird rate. After this date, the registration fee will increase from $200 to $250.

Dear Friends,

2014 has been a fantastic year for RDA and research data in general. It is remarkable what can happen when a group of passionate volunteers come together. RDA has matured as an organization and is operating better than ever, but it is you, the members, who have made it work. You all have established a global community of data enthusiasts who are delivering real solutions to improve data sharing and advance society. 2014 may well be remembered as the year of research data.
