RDA France Webinar: activities and results of the RDA COVID-19 Working Group

RDA France is organizing the "Activities and results of the RDA COVID-19 Working Group" webinar.

Between the end of March and the end of June, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the RDA working group on COVID-19 was formed and worked with energy, enthusiasm and efficiency to produce, thanks to 7 subgroups and an editorial team, a recommendations document and Pandemic data sharing guidelines.

The RDA COVID-19 Working Group has recently published the final version of the RDA COVID-19 Recommendations and Guidelines for Data Sharing with the contribution of nearly 200 people.

The Group aims to:

• Define guidelines on data sharing under the present COVID-19 circumstances to help stakeholders follow best practices to maximize the efficiency of their work;
• Develop guidelines for policymakers to maximise timely data sharing and appropriate responses in health emergencies;
• Address the interests of researchers, policy makers, funders, publishers, and providers of data sharing infrastructures.

The COVID-19 WG, from April 1st through June 30th, 2020, created more than five releases of the recommendations and guidelines, leading to the final endorsed version.

The Working Group operates according to the RDA guiding principles of Openness, Consensus, Balance, Harmonization, Community-driven, Non-profit and technology-neutral and is OPEN TO ALL. The group is part of the joint activities carried out by CODATA, GO FAIR, RDA and WDS under their Data Together statement.

Anne Cambon-Thomsen, RDA EU Ambassador health sciences and for research ethics and co-chair of the COVID-19 RDA Working Group is the speaker at this RDA France organised webinar. During the webinar she will present and discuss the constitution, the working method of the group and the content of the recommendations as well as its perspectives of use.

Anne Cambon-Thomsen

Anne is a French medical doctor specialised in human immunogenetics and health ethics, presently Emeritus Research Director at CNRS, in an epidemiology and public health unit of Inserm and University Toulouse III. She published on human genetics, transplantation immunogenetics, societal and policy aspects of genomics and biotechnologies. She is member of the European Group on Ethics, the CODATA international data policy committee, the governing board of EuroScience and co-leads the RDA interest group SHARC.
