Brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group:

RDA P16 was the first plenary that the Sustainable Development Goals Interest Group hosted a session after approval and endorsement of the IG. However, the IG builds upon work conducted at the previous four plenaries, including a joint session at P14, a BOF during RDA P12, and a joint session at RDA P13 which have opened discussion of main themes, gaps, and coordination needs related to SDGs data. Since P16, there have been well-attended sessions to continue to frame the cross-sector and cross-disciplinary data needs for the SDGs, which will benefit from the continuation of this IG session. Particularly recently, work underway within the RDA secretariat has focused on how RDA outputs and recommendations can be disseminated and packaged to support efforts of other organizations or community development initiatives. Such efforts include increasing organizational collaboration and integration of RDA outputs within education curricula, directly aligning with the mission of the UN interoperability collaborative. The RDA for SDGs IG conducted a tentative mapping of RDA WGs, Outputs, Recommendations, and Adoption case-studies to the 17 SDG goals, presented at RDA P18. Since P18, there has been ongoing development of the tool OntoSDG to better align ongoing RDA work with the SDGs.

Short Group Status:

The RDA for the SDGg IG has been an IG since RDA P16. Since then, there have been ongoing engagement with other RDA IGs  and WGs, as well as RDA Council to help align the activities of the RDA for SDGs IG group with RDAs proposed strategy for 2020-2023. Most recently, the RDA for SDGs IG conducted a tentative mapping of RDA WGs, Outputs, Recommendations, and Adoption case-studies to the 17 SDG goals, presented at RDA P18. Since P18, there has been ongoing development of the tool OntoSDG, and now our IG would like to gain more direct feedback from organizational and community members to evaluate this tool and mapping of alignment of RDA for the SDGs. Further, we will collaboratively develop strategic nexts-steps to build upon and expand this current work to best frame the value of the RDA for the SDGs. Previous sessions have been well-attended, demonstrating the community interest and cross-sector data needs for the SDGs.
