My RDA Journey

Every member of the RDA community is unique and has a different reason for being involved. Sharing your RDA Journey helps others understand the value of the community. Please visit this page, include a few sentences on your RDA experience and don’t forget to write your name, role, affiliation and country there too. Photos and Twitter handles are also welcome.

We will be using the content to promote RDA, encourage other experts to join, highlight the value of the organisation, etc.

Many thanks for your support for RDA.

RDA's 14th Plenary - 23-25 October 2019 | Helsinki, Finland

  • Full Programme with Co-Located Event Schedule Now Available Online!

  • Call for Volunteers for Unconference
Planning is underway for the next RDA Unconference, scheduled to take place the afternoon of 24 October 2019, at Aalto University during P14. This will be RDA’s second meeting of this type, with its first taking place last April during Plenary 13 in Philadelphia. Due to the extremely positive feedback received then and the perspective that an Unconference meeting has a significant role in shaping the direction of RDA, we have decided to include it again in the P14 programme. For this time, however, we want to give you, our members, the opportunity to have a hands-on role in leading the event itself. If you are interested or have experience in conducting an Unconference, we want to hear from you. We are in need of facilitators, session leads, notetakers, content editors, etc. who can assist us in making this event an even bigger success than the P13 Unconference. If you will be attending P14 and available to assist us during the Unconference, please complete this form by 13 September 2019 and indicate the type of assistance you can provide to us. The RDA Programme Committee will then reach out to you to further discuss your role and plan for the event.

Member Spotlight - Dr. Andrew Janke, Associate Director, Research Technology, University of Sydney

This month we spoke with Dr. Andrew Janke, the Associate Director of Research Technology at the University of Sydney.

We asked Andrew to describe the value of RDA for him: 'What's valuable about RDA is that it's a good place to broaden your horizons. [..] RDA allowed me to be in a room with other people, even virtually, who have the same problem in very different fields; very quickly you learn that you are all wasting time to solve the same problem individually. [...] RDA makes virtual attendance very easy and I continue to attend remotely because it allows for a broad and very quick overview of all the experts across fields. This is great for someone in Australia, who doesn't get to go to many conferences, with most distances being a 24-hour flight.'  Read the full interview.
