RDA-US Announces New Leadership

At Plenary 20 in March, it was announced that Rebecca Koskela, RDA-US Executive Director, will be stepping down from her post and onto her next adventure in retirement. Dr. Beth Plale has agreed to assume the leadership role of RDA-US. An early founder of RDA and the Executive Director of the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University, Dr. Plale’s numerous contributions to RDA include guidance on PIDs, data fabric infrastructure, a US early-career program, and inaugural co-chair of RDA’s Technical Advisory Board. Request for Comments Opportunity

The RDA Working Group titled “RDA-OfR Mapping the digital research data infrastructure landscape” is a new group supported by Oracle for Research (OfR), that aims to define, map and enable stakeholders to navigate the complex digital research data infrastructure landscape. The group’s Case Statement is now under Community Review and RDA members are encouraged to review and provide feedback by 20 May regarding the group’s goals and planned activities. Learn more.

Voting is now open for the four open positions on the RDA Council. Five nominees are available, and members are encouraged to cast four preferences, one for each of open positions. These nominees are:

  • Sayeed Choudhury - Director of Open Source Programs Office, Carnegie Mellon University
  • Wolfram Horstmann - Director, State and University Library Goettingen
  • Sarah Jones - EOSC Management Manager, GÉANT
  • Joyce Gosata Maphanyane - Researcher, University of Botswana (standing for 2nd term)
  • Amy Nurnberger - Program Head, Data Management Services, Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Remote Research Grants for Ukrainian Researchers

Recently announced, the new EURIZON Fellowship Program, “Remote Research Grants for Ukrainian Researchers” will provide grants to Ukrainian research teams to continue their scientific work remotely, by carrying on research projects in collaboration with partners from European research institutes. Learn more.

Be Part of International Data Week and RDA in Salzburg, Austria - Call for Sessions is Open!

Now is the time to plan for your involvement at RDA’s 21st Plenary in Salzburg, Austria, taking place as part of International Data Week during 23-26 October 2023.  By 9 June, submit your session applications for individual working//interest group meetings, joint meetings, or Birds of a Feather sessions.
