"PIDs: Joining up the world" - proposed P16 session

Groups audience:

Hi all,

We are planning to hold a Persistent Identifiers IG session at the next virtual RDA plenary. Proposals are due on Tuesday.

The format we used last time worked well:

  • PID service provider perspectives
  • PID user/consumer perspectives

A proposed theme would be "PIDs: joining the world up" which will allow us to highlight coordinating activities within the PID world as well as the crucial role PIDs play in joining critical information elements of scholarly communications.

And a joined up world is nice aspiration at the moment with so much isolation and siloing.

We plan to submit a session proposal along these lines on Tuesday 4 August.  If you have ideas for presentations or activities within that framework don't hesitate to let me know by reply email.

We don't need every detail nailed down by Tuesday, and individual presentations can also be added closer to the session.

warm regards,

Adrian

Thanks for coordinating, Adrian. I am happy to provide an update on ROR and tie it to the theme of joining up the world.

    Dear Adrian,
we would be delighted to contribute to the session by presenting the
differences and complementarities of intrinsic and extrinsic identifiers
    (see
    https://www.softwareheritage.org/2020/07/09/intrinsic-vs-extrinsic-ident...)
, and showcase the SWHIDs intrinsic identifiers
    for software
    source code.
    All the best
