staying the weekend

21 Jun 2019

Hi all,

My wfe is away this summer teaching in China, so I'm in no rush to get home. I'm staying the weekend in Köln to play. Is anyone else sticking around?

One activity I was considering is a Kölsch tasting on Saturday or Sunday. Anyone interested?

Here's the description:

About your host

I'm a Certified Cicerone ® (one of only 7 in Germany), beer geek and home brewer since 2011. I've been studying (and drinking) different beer styles and visiting breweries from Germany, Belgium, England and the USA for years. I live in Cologne since 2015 and deep into the city's craft beer scene and local Kölsch beer culture.

What we’ll do

I'll take you to a personalized beer tour to visit and learn about Cologne's rich and unique beer history, visiting some traditional BrauHäuser (like Brauerei zum Malzmuhle, Sion, Früh, Päfgen, etc.) and trying the different Kölsch beers in the city. I'll tell you about the history of Cologne and how it affected the evolution of the city's unique beer style. I'll give you tips on tasting and comparing each one of the local Kölsch beers and comparing with other traditional and more well known beer styles like German Pils, Export, American Standard Lager, etc.. And in case you are hungry we can finalize with a traditional meal in the last stop of the tour.

It costs €18 plus the cost of beer and food.

cheers,

-m.

p.s the cost is 18 dollars not Euros. And I found a couple other similar craft beer tours that may be of interest.

Cool. Some folks have contacted me personally, and there is some interest. Our dude, Linus, has six slots (his maximum group size) available on Saturday 13:30-16:30.
If interested, please confirm by Monday 13:00 UTC. If I get at least two or three people, I’ll book it.
I look forward to seeing y’all soon.
    cheers,
