Dear Ming,
Thanks so much for recording and posting the presentation.
Helping repositories make their datasets more discoverable and
useful has been a primary goal of the DDPIG since its inception,
and use of schema.org markup is mentioned in Recommendation 9 of
our Best Practices for Data Repositories: "Make records easily
indexed and searchable by major web search engines".
I interpreted Natasha's suggestion regarding the focus a new
DDPIG group that it should work with the schema.org community on
standardizing how datasets are described, perhaps recommending new
attributes, etc. I personally feel the group (task force) should
incorporate best practices and interactions with the respective
communities also working on
href="https://www.w3.org/TR/vocab-dcat/">Vocab-DCAT and W3C
standards for
href="https://www.w3.org/standards/techs/dataontheweb">data on
the web in general, with an end goal of producing a document
(and RDA output) with specific recommendations to repositories on
how to best use these technologies for making their data
discoverable. I realize google has already provided
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/datasets">guidelines
for using schema.org for describing datasets, so our
recommendations could address the tradeoffs between using
schema.org and DCAT, with perhaps some further implementation
guidelines.
I'm interested in hearing from others what sounds like a good
approach for this new group.
Cheers,

hour long, about 95MB.
A following up action will be to draft a proposal for a new
task force within this DDP IG. The scope of this new task
force is open for discussion, it may include exchanging
experience of implementing
moz-do-not-send="true">schema.org markup and
observing/measuring benefit over a period of time, among many
other possibilities. If you would like to co-lead the task
force or contribute to directions of the task force, please
let me (or three other co-chairs of the interest group: Anita,

Again, thanks Natasha and those who participated today, we
had a good

SiriJodha,
This seems like a good way of thinking about it. It is a great idea to leverage the RDA as a forum to bring in folks from related communities such as the DCAT/W3C ones. The orientation towards recommendations for, eg the repository communities, is also very positive. There is also potential to engage with identifier services providers such as DataCite.
Cheers,
Adam.
