    You are here

26 Oct 2017
Groups audience:

Dear All,
I am glad to inform you that Dr. Natasha Noy from Research at Google has
accepted our invitation to introduce us the effort Google has put into data
discovery and Google's guidelines for data repositories to make data more
easily discoverable by web search engines.
You may recall that our Best Practices Task Force has drafted a white paper

"Data Discovery Paradigms: User Requirements and Recommendations for Data
Repositories", which recommends ten best practices for data repositories to
address user requirements of finding data. One of the recommendations is
to make metadata records easily index-able and search-able by major search
engines. I am sure Dr. Noy's talk will provide us with some hands-on
guidelines on how to implement this recommendation.

    Dear All,
I have posted recording of today's session with Natasha in the RDA DDP IG
wiki space. Here is the link
    .
The recording is an hour long, about 95MB.
A following up action will be to draft a proposal for a new task force
within this DDP IG. The scope of this new task force is open for
discussion, it may include exchanging experience of implementing schema.org
markup and observing/measuring benefit over a period of time, among many
other possibilities. If you would like to co-lead the task force or
contribute to directions of the task force, please let me (or three other
co-chairs of the interest group: Anita, Fotis and SiriJodha) know.
Again, thanks Natasha and those who participated today, we had a good
    discussion.
    Regards,
    Ming
