5th RDA WG/IG Collaboration Meeting, 8-9 June 2016, Nottingham, UK
RDA WG / IG Collaboration meetings have been held since the first RDA Working Groups were formed, with the purpose of keeping track of what the individual groups were doing, and of looking for leverage and synergies across groups. These meetings were first held as video conference, but since early 2014, face-to-face meetings have been held about 3 months after each Plenary, the location alternating between Europe and the US at this point. The meetings are meant primarily as interaction forums on issues relevant to the RDA groups, and all RDA Working and Interest Group chairs, RDA TAB and Secretariat members are invited to the meetings. These meetings complement the TAB and WG / IG Chairs’ meeting, which is held at each Plenary.
Currently, the RDA WG / IG Collaboration meetings are organized by an organization committee consisting of Larry Lannom, Peter Wittenburg, and Rainer Stotzka. The 5th RDA WG/IG Collaboration Meeting took place on the 8th and 9th of June 2016 in Nottingham, UK. The meeting was organised by Helen Glaves, Larry Lannom, Peter Wittenburg, Rainer Stotzka, and Suchith Anand. The meeting brought together about 40 WG and IG chairs, TAB and Secretariat members from Europe, North America, and Australia. A main topic discussed was “RDA and the domain specific data life cycles – from planning to preservation”, and presentations were given from different disciplines / domains. There were also talks on topics around the data fabric. In addition, TAB representatives presented the first results of the TAB Landscape Overview Group and asked for feedback and input from the meeting participants.

The next meeting will be at NIST in Gaithersburg, US, in December 12-13, 2016. More information on the meeting will be provided later in the year.
